When I first saw this advertisement by Box8 I thought the Buy 1 Get 1 (B1G1) was too good to be true and fortunately I was proved right. Here is my experience or should I call it inexperience!
They have someting called "classic" and "supreme" in their menu which is something you do not usually observe. So the first time, we made sure we ordered the wraps and salads so that one could get a B1G1 offer. After paying the bill, I realised that the offer was only for the "supreme" (read more expensive than "classic") menu.
Having experienced this new understanding that there is a great difference between "supreme" and "classic" the next time around wanted to make sure it was all in "supreme" category; all to derive the B1G1 offer!
Convenienced that I had cracked the code! I ordered 2 veg wraps and 2 non-veg wraps (as one can assume, the non-veg was more expensive that the veg wrap!). With the assumption that I get to pay for 1 veg wrap and 1 non-veg wrap but would get 2 of each under the B1G1 offer!
I was again proved that I was beaten again by the Box8 B1G1 offer blues.
When I looked at the bill, the software had discounted the 2 veg wraps (lower priced stuff) and had charged me for the 2 non-veg (higher priced!) wraps! So I still paid more that what I thought I would be charged.
And I thought B1G1 means if you buy one I would get the same stuff for free - in this case 1 non-veg wrap would get me another non-veg wrap. But not in my dream did I think that what the Box8 billing sofware did! It gave me for free the least two of the 4 items ordered .. in this case the 2 veg wraps came with 2 non-veg wraps.
My next try (most probably I will not buy from them!) would be to order just two items iof the same type at a time! So that I can beat the billing sofware to give me the true discount.
So I order 2 non-veg wraps. Then after 2.5 minutes order two veg wraps. With this I get to pay exactly what I think a B1G1 offer should be. But given the way food delivery joints work .. it is possible two different delivery boys will spend Box8 fueled scooters to deliver me the two separate order! Meaning them will spend more fuel and manpower to deliver the same food!
But will I do it? May be not - atleast to contribute my little to keep the environmet a little more green.
Box8 better introduce this into your billing software .. if someone has odered two of the same item ... you give the second one for free with the first one! not try tio find the minumum and then give a discount on the least priced stuff!
Bet your software developers can introduce dome human intellegence into your billing software!
