Everyone has his or her own experiences. You learn as you experience and age and jot them down for your own clarity. If it helps some one in this process it is definitely worth it.
Frankly I would not have put them together if not for a colleague who asked if I had any suggestions.
Caution: What ever I write is purely what I feel or think, I might or might
not practice it, so please use caution in assimilating the comments
and|or suggestions! I am, I know, for sure, not an ideal person. This read was the first time I spoke about something similar. And this write-up is definitely influenced by it. You can multiply what I write by a necessary attenuation factor so that it becomes less ideal and more practical.
My [a-z] disjoint pieces, no sequence or order
[a]
Thought people talk of work life balance, I think there is no way one
can maintain it in reality, so if things are moving forward in both work
and home, just go with it.
[b] Happiness is (in my opinion)
what one should strive for. No one except you can keep yourself happy.
Do what makes you happy. Two people could be in the same situation, one
could be happy and another not. So the decision is mostly in our hands.
[c]
Health is important. When dividing food at home (as a family) put an
equal amount of your own plate. General tendency is to put less on your
plate and more on the other family members plate. Good Health = lots of
happiness.
[d] Be in touch with your elders (parents) even if
it means listening to the same things again and again. Write a letter as
frequently as feasible even if it is a task!
[e] Be yourself. That is the best way to happiness.
[f]
Never boast or compare your siblings with your spouse (your brother
with your husband; your sister with your wife especially)
[g]
Never assume anything however true it might sound, try to get to the
bottom of it before you believe it; because everyone has their
interpretation of the story.
[h] What ever be the circumstances always give your 100%.
[i] Have disagreement with the idea|topic but not with the person. Learn to differentiate.
[j] Avoid speaking about someone in their absence; walk away of someone is speaking ill of others in their absence.
[k] Professionally compete with yourself (if you have to) never with others.
[l]
It is never easy to appreciate success of others, especially your
peers. Make an attempt to, even if the success was ill-deserved.
[m]
What you have today might be because of the organization for which your
work, not necessarily your individual competency, keep that at the back
of your mind.
[n] Write notes to yourself - about anything. You will be surprised and proud of yourself when you browse it later.
[o]
Ups and downs in life is what makes life. Let it not worry. Over the
complete life period these are smooth for each and everyone.
[p] If you find someone smarter, more intelligent let that not demoralize you in comparison. Each of us is good in our own way.
[q]
Professionally do not let anyone disrespect you, you are not employed
by your supervisor. You are employed by the organization because of who
you are.
[r] Always bring into the organizations people who are better than you. Even if it means you become redundant.
[s] Try to be fair when the situation demands, so that you can sleep peacefully in the night.
[t] Try to contribute a little to the lesser privileged, no assistance is small.
[u] Men and women think are react differently to the same situation - try and remember this when ever possible.
[v]
Arguments in a family are healthy, especially when you stay 24 hours
under the same roof. Be aware. Do not be fooled when you see a happy
family when they visit you!
[w] Try not to raise your voice
because someone is lower down the societal ladder especially in front of
their family. No one wants to see their father or brother or sister
being shouted at.
[x] Try and resolve any conflict and try to start every day afresh.
[y] Do not try to change anyone - everyone has a belief system - nothing is perfect.
[z] Read all of the above again ;-)
