K S Rao (20 Dec 1936 - 09 Feb 2022)

Shraddanjali Invite

 K. S. Rao (20 Dec 1936 - 09 Feb 2022)

K S Rao to some, Chandrudu to some and Kopparapu Sudarsana Rao to some bid farewell at 0521 am IST on 09-Feb-2022 in Mumbai. We, Suneetha {Jayakumar, Vaidhehi, Niranjan} and Sunil {Namita, Sumit} are arranging a pooja (with the help of a pujari) on 21-Feb-2022 (13th day) between 1000-1400 hrs in Mumbai.

Though he did not show any inclinations towards any rituals, we believe  this might be the apt thing to do. The idea of the ritual (for those who believe) is to sincerely pray for the soul of the departed to journey to Yamapuri. It is believed, that the journey of the soul starts on the 13 th day and actually reaches Yamapuri on the 17 th day.  The rituals are expected to support this journey of the soul.

He lived a life on his own terms and was a person who was may be a couple of decades ahead of his time. He was a person who did not believe in fineness of communication. He did influence a lot of people in several different ways, be it as a colleague or a friend (all age groups). He was well read and took the ups and downs in life in the stride.

If you have any memories, do leave a comment.

Honest officer in real life నిజ జీవితంలో నిజాయితీగల అధికారి

his passion to read books పుస్తకాలు చదవడం అతని అభిరుచి புத்தகங்கள் படிப்பதில் அவரது ஆர்வம்

May be , echo of his vision is driving me ஒருவேளை, அவரது பார்வையின் எதிரொலி என்னை இயக்குகிறது, బహుశా, అతని దృష్టి యొక్క ప్రతిధ్వని నన్ను నడిపిస్తోంది

I love to thank him, for his support in my life

Thank you

MY OBSERVATION
A good human being with more of closeness and reservedness in maintaining relationships and sportive in playing cards, best for arguments if we stay at opponent side.Non believer of rituals and straight forward
MY EXPERIENCE

My best memories with uncle are during my childhood. Running around playing with him, meeting him and aunty and Anna and akka almost everyday near palm beach circle, sitting and enjoying the day. I have to say, saw uncle as a strict person, loved his chuckkle and humor, his practical approach which I truly like in today's world. Miss Suguna Aunty and Rao Garu uncle.. the way I know them both!! Wishing uncle attains the peace and heavenly abode he truly deserves!! From your little Kavitha Uncle!

Sadgati to an illustrious soul. Though I've never physically met Uncle, I've experienced him through Suneetha, her recounting of memories and talks about him, and all the lil gifts from him that she shared. A person whose ever smiling Daughter, son in law & grandchildren can be so beautiful loving and cheerful one understands the values with which they were nourished and the great souls their parents / grandparents were. Prayers for your onward journey dear Uncle. You will be missed.

I met Uncle few times, couple of times during his visits to IIT Bombay campus and once when I visited Bangalore. I have known Sunil for more than 3 decades. Lots of great humanitarian ideals and values that Sunil follows and practices comes from his father. He was one of the few people whom I met who had widespread knowledge and experience working with lots of different people and institutions. A non preaching idealist with a practical sense of what works and what not. Om Shanti. Palani

Visualizing Speech Processing Challenges!

Often it is difficult to emphasize the difficulty that one faces during speech signal processing. Thanks to the large population use of speech recognition in the form of Alexa, Google Home when most of us are asking for a very limited information ("call my mother", "play the top 50 international hits" or "switch off the lights") which is quite well captured by the speech recognition engine in the form of contextual knowledge (it knows where you are; it knows your calendar, it know you parents phone number, it knows your preference, it knows your facebook likes .... ). Same Same - Different Different:   You speak X = /My voice is my password/ and I speak Y= /My voice is my password/. In speech recognition both our speech samples (X and Y) need to be recognized as "My voice is my password" while in speaker biometric X has to be attributed to you and and Y has to be attributed to me! In this blog post we try to show   visually   what it means to pro

BITS Pilani Goa Campus - Some Useful Information

You have cleared the BIT Aptitude Test and have got admission to BITS Pilani Goa Campus. Congratulation . Well Done. This is how the main building looks! Read on for some useful information, especially since you are traveling for the first time to the campus and more or less you will face the same scenario that we faced! We were asked report on 29-Jul-2018 (Sunday) to take admission on, 30-Jul-2018.  We reached Madgoan (we traveled by train though the airport is pretty close to the BITS campus, primarily to allow us to carry more luggage!)at around 0700 hours (expect a few drizzles to some good rain - so carry an umbrella) on 29-July-2019. As you come out you will be hounded by several taxi drivers, but the best is to take the official pre-paid taxi. It should cost you INR 700 to reach the BITS campus. We had booked a hotel in Vasco (this is one of the closest suburb from BITS campus, a taxi should charge you around 300-350 INR; you will make plenty of trips!) and

Authorship or Acknowledgement? Order of Authors!

{Personal views} Being in an R&D organization means there are several instances when you have to write (Scientific or Technical Papers) about what you do in peer reviewed conference or journals.Very often, the resulting work is a team effort and as a consequence most papers, written today, have multiple authors.  Few decades ago, as a research scholar, it was just you and your supervisor as the two sole authors of any output that came out of the PhD exploration. This was indeed true, especially if you were writing a paper based on your ongoing research towards a PhD. In the pre-google days, the trend was to email the second author (usually the supervisor) to ask for a copy of the paper so that you could read the research and hopeful build on it because you knew that the supervisor would be more static in terms of geo coordinates than the scholar.   However the concept of multiple authors for a research article is seeping into academic research as well. These days labs write papers
